Edo Van Bueren (1940-2012) 11/12/2012 Edo Lammerts Van Bueren died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, at the Swedish Hospital in Seattle, Wash., from complications following surgery to remove a blood clot from his left lung. Edo was born in Indonesia on Oct. 26, 1940. He travelled as a young boy with his uncle to Holland for an education. Edo immigrated in the 1960s to the United States where he was sponsored by the president of George Fox College in Newberg, Ore. He married Tonya and had three children, Astrid Kym, Brent and Kevin. They divorced when the children were young. He was active in horse racing and the Portland Hunt Club, and raised beef cattle. In spring 1982, Edo came to Fairbanks to instruct an Equestrian Jumping Clinic where he met his surviving wife, Jeanette Goodrich Lammerts Van Bueren. He moved to Fairbanks the following fall and they were married Dec. 31, 1982. Edo's many stories and variety of adventures he had would fill books. He embraced life wholeheartedly and truly lived in the moment. Home was with his dogs, horses and animals. He loved music and people. He knew no strangers. He loved sharing his passion for horses with everyone. Edo loved Alaska and what it had to offer. He had a special spot in his heart for our Native community - they always brought back fond memories of his childhood in Indonesia. A celebration of life will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, at the Elks Lodge, 1003 Pioneer Road, Fairbanks. Condolences and contributions in honor of Edo can be made to his surviving wife, Jeanette, at P.O. Box 84026, Fairbanks, AK 99708. View/Sign the Guest Book top of page | home | feedback | search |
