Daniel J. Timmerman February 15, 1971 - November 23, 2010 December 1, 2010 Daniel J. Timmerman, 39, of Winona, MN, formerly of Waukon, IA, died Tuesday, November 23, 2010, at the Community Hospital in Winona. Daniel James Timmerman was born on February 15, 1971 in Kenosha, WI, the son of Robert and Mary (Gregan) Timmerman. He was baptized at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Kenosha. Dan and his family moved to Waukon in 1974 where he attended Waukon Schools and played football. He received his GED in 1993. On June 2, 1990 he married Malinda Mulholland at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon. They were divorced later. Dan worked construction and was a cook at the Holiday Inn in Cedar Rapids, IA. He raised and trained sled dogs and was a professional sled dog racer, racing in the Sprint Circuit throughout the Upper Midwest. Dan suffered severe injuries in 1998 from an ATV accident in Northern Minnesota. He required intense rehabilitation so he could live on his own in independent housing in Winona, the past nine years. He enjoyed anything in the outdoors especially dog sledding, hunting and fishing. Survivors include a daughter, Jade Timmerman; his parents, Robert and Mary Timmerman; a brother, Ryan Timmerman all of Waukon; his maternal grandmother, Ellen Gerard of North English, IA and his paternal grandparents, Delbert and Betty Timmerman of Waukon; several uncles, aunts and cousins. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Raymond Gregan and maternal step-grandfather, William Gerard. Honorary casketbearers are Matthew Bixby, Michael Foubert, Amber, Lindsey, Melissa and Tyler Gerard, Brien Gregan, Audrey Morrmann, Christian, Josh and Tiffany Timmerman and Amy Trachta.
