Wright County, Minnesota - Bertram Chain of Lakes Park action needed.

We still have an opportunity to increase our accessible trails. There is still time to send your input supporting the inclusion of skijor trails in the Wright Counties’ Bertram Chain of Lakes park plan.

You may ask “What is this Bertram Chain of Lakes Regional Park” ? Bertram Chain of Lakes (near Monticello, Minnesota) is the location of the YMCAs’ Camp Manitou which is where the Monti-Mush Race had been held. Many of us have already skijored and raced at this location. This has huge dog powered sports potential!

In speaking with Wright County yesterday, the park draft is not done and no decision has been made yet. In order for skijor trails to become a reality the Wright County Park Advisory board needs to hear a significant input of support. In order for our skijor community to grow we as individuals must stand up and be heard. Your support and input are critical. The reality of skijor trails in Bertram Chain of Lakes Regional Park cannot happen without you!

Wright County urgently needs to hear from YOU. Please take the time NOW to individually send an e-mail EACH of the 5 persons listed below. Even if you are not a Wright County resident, let them know you are interested and would contribute to the local economy by visiting gas stations, restaurants, and retail stores.

Please tell your family and friends to do the same. Tell your Facebook friends to contact the board in support of skijor trails as well! Spread the word. You do not have to live in Wright County. You do not personally have to be a skijorer (mushers and drylanders should speak up also). Share this with other sport clubs, breed clubs, and your training groups. Even if you’re not a dog owner, we could still use your support.

8/5/10: Frustrated by a lack of places in Minnesota open to skijoring?

Wright County, Minnesota is in the process of developing a plan for the new Bertram Chain of Lakes park. The park is still in its infancy, and will eventually grow to 1200 acres. Located just southwest of the city of Monticello, Minnesota, it is easily accessible via I-94.

This is a great opportunity to be heard. If you feel there is a need for skijoring in the area, please contact as many of the following people as you can. Even if you are not a Wright County resident, let them know you are interested and would contribute to the local economy by visiting gas stations, restaurants, and retail stores.

Decisions will be made very soon, so we need to act quickly please contact them by August 6, 2010.
