Mushers
will compete for a $10,000
Sled dog racing without snow? Yes, called dryland racing and is catching on all over the United States after years of popularity in Europe. Mushers will compete for a $10,000.00 purse in Canicross, Bikejor, rig and scooter classes at the East Meets West Dryland Championship on October 30th and 31st, 2010, at Warner Lake Park in Clearwater, Minnesota. Racing starts on Saturday at 10:00 A.M., on Sunday at 9:00 A.M. Admission is free, although donations for the local food shelf will gratefully be accepted. A handicapped accessible indoor trail view area is available at the Nature Center. Concessions provided by Clearwater Travel Plaza will be available both days. The 2009 races drew 74 entries, 2010 should draw more. The Warner Lake Park Nature Center will host the mushers dinner Saturday evening from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Cost of the turkey dinner is $8.00. The public is invited to meet the mushers and join them for a great dinner prepared by the Clearwater Travel Plaza. Following the dinner, Dr. Jerry Vanek, a well known and respected race veterinarian, will present the "Relay Race for Life Serum Run" slide show. The presentation is also free to the public.
