A collision Tuesday morning on Knik-Goose Bay Road sent one vehicle crashing into a sled dog team, according to first responders.
Iditarod musher Kristy Berington, one of two involved in the crash, said she was running the team that was struck for fellow musher Tom Knolmayer.
Ken Barkley, the Mat-Su Borough’s deputy chief of emergency services, said the collision shortly after 11 a.m. occurred near Mile 14 of the road. Barkley said the area where the crash occurred is routinely used by mushers for training.
