Loveable pets are born to run
Huskies may be sweet and fluffy medium-sized pets, but they were bred for a specific reason: running.
This is something they get to do at Sled Dog Racing Queensland events.
Emily Vourlides has two Siberian huskies Mikey and Ruby, and started a dog sledding club based in Brisbane three years ago.
She went to a pet expo after buying a husky and heard about dog sledding.
SDRQ has been coming to Benarkin State Forest to race for the past two years.
Members of the club were in Benarkin at the weekend racing their dogs in the two-day Red Mile Muster.
The race involved competitors racing with dogs harnessed to bikes or scooters.
