Lost Pines Lodge Dryland Race in Harrietta this weekend
Feet and paws will fly this weekend during the Lost Pines Lodge Dryland Race this Saturday and Sunday.
A dryland race is like a dog sled race, except without the sled.
“This is a race that takes place on wheels,” race chairperson Matt Woudenberg said.
Woudenberg said that for a dryland race, dogs get hooked onto a wheeled rig that can be made out of mountain bike frames and aluminum components.
The Great Lakes Sled Dog Association, a family-oriented club whose members own and race sled dogs, will be hosting the event at Lost Pines Lodge at 5881 15 ½ Road in Harrietta.
Races will run from 10 a.m. to about 2 or 3 p.m. on Saturday and from 9 a.m. to about 1 or 2 p.m. on Sunday, Woudenberg said.
He said the different races will cover one-and-a-half to 3.8 miles.
