Gladwin native to race in Iditarod
Shaynee Seipke-Traska has been dreaming of competing in the Iditarod for 20 years. Next year that dream will come true.
She was not only the first to sign up for the 2018 race in Anchorage, Alaska, but her name was also drawn as a winner of a free $4,000 entry fee.
Winning a free entry will go a long way towards her fundraising efforts for the coming race. Some of the needs include food and supplies for the dogs for the race. Sponsorships for each of the dogs is available.
To help cover the upcoming expenses, a fundraiser for her will be held Sunday October 1 at 2 p.m. at the Gladwin High School, where she will tell her story and narrate pictures of her life in Alaska.
