The second annual Dryland Dash is coming up this weekend in Negaunee Township. It's your chance to see how sled dogs run when there is no snow.
The event is a competition with a purse of $2,000. In addition to the competition, it also serves as training for the dogs and their owners. Classes for the event include 4 and 6 dog rigs, 1 and 2 Dog Bikejor and Canicross.
"You're going to see what sled dogs do when there is no snow, your going to see lots of different size teams and you'll see lots of different dogs even," said Tim Trowbridge, Race Chairperson. "It is a sight to see."
The Dryland Dash is this Saturday and Sunday, October 14 and 15. Things get started at 9 a.m. both days. A portion of the entry fees will go to the Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter, (UPAWS).
