Dogs to race on Timaru’s international motor raceway
Paws will replace wheels at Timaru’s Levels Raceway at the weekend with a fun run expected to bring about 50 dogs to town.
The Southern Regions Sled Dog Club will host a merino classic fun run at the international motor raceway on Saturday and Sunday with 92 entries across three categories - the first time the event has been hosted in Timaru since 2020.
Club secretary Sarah Bartlett said owners would race around the track on scooters, rigs or bikes, pulled by their dogs.
It was any open to any breed of dog that “pulled’’ and the group had a mix of members including labradors, huntaways, border collies, heading dogs, and siberian huskies.
