BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. - Just northeast of Breckenridge down a long dirt road sits Good Times Adventure Tours and dozens of sled dogs.

"I grab the leash in the morning and all 160 dogs that we have here start jumping up, howling, saying 'pick me, pick me!,'" dog sled guide Josh Accetturo said.

These Siberian Huskies were born to run, and that's exactly what they get to do there.

"On average our tours are traveling about four to five miles," kennel manager Sarah Spalla said. "It does kind of depend on snow conditions, but on an average day our dogs will run about 10 to 15 miles a day."

"They can pull about five times their body weight," Accetturo said. "Our dogs weigh about 50 pounds on average, males a little more, females a little less, so you've got about 200 to 250 pounds per dog of pulling power, so with our eight-dog team we can easily pull over 1,000 pounds."

These dogs only have to pull about 400 to 500 pounds, twice a day.

"They love it," Spalla said. "People often ask, 'Do the dogs like pulling?' That's an understatement. They love their jobs for sure. They are enthusiastic every single day. This is what they've been born and bred to do."
