Dog sledding enthusiasts partake in dryland race
Dog sledding enthusiasts gathered at Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan Scout Camp to race their dogs on dry land, as opposed to on snow. Jennifer Lyons, a competitor from La Crosse, Wisconsin said, "it's a bunch of people who love our dogs and we like to do what they like to do," Lyons continued, "our dogs love to run."
She said, "this time of year we obviously, we don't have snow… so we're on bikes, we're on scooters, we're on rigs, we're running behind our dogs so our dogs can run the trails and just have fun," said Lyons.
Lyons started racing nearly a decade ago after adopting two dogs of her own. "It was just supposed to be for fun, you know I want to get them on a sled and run into town and pick up their dog food and come home. Yea… ten years later, I have eighteen dogs in my kennel."
