'Buddy' takes Open North American championship in Fairbanks
Fort Nelson’s Blayne Streeper is the 2022 Open North American dog sled racing champion.
The long-time 39-year-old musher took the title, his eighth, Sunday afternoon beating out Quebec’s Erick LaForce by almost three minutes in the third and final leg of the race.
Streeper’s aggregate time over the three-day event in Fairbanks, Alaska was three hours, 39 minutes, and 32.3 seconds while his Canadian counterpart clocked in at three hours, 42 minutes, and 27.9 seconds.
