Brookwood School holds sixth annual Ikidarod
On Thursday, March 25, 2021 Brookwood School second grade and Foundations of Innovation students filed into Warrior Stadium to participate in the 6th Annual Ikidarod relay.
The relay simulates the Iditarod, a long distance sled dog race from Anchorage to Nome, Alaska. Prior to the relay, students spent time learning about the original trek from Anchorage to deliver life-saving medicine to the children of Nome, Alaska.
Second grade partners with the Upper School’s Foundations of Innovation class each year to design one of a kind sleds for the big race. This year, Mrs. Clendenin’s class was team Tie-Dye, and Mrs. Edwards’ class was team Reptile. Both teams had fantastic sleds outfitted for the occasion.
