A new resolution has been introduced that would require the CDC to rewrite their new regulations regarding dogs crossing the border.
Congressman Jared Golden (ME-02) and Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY-24) introduced the bipartisan resolution today, August 8, 2024.
The resolution was submitted under the Congressional Review Act (CRA), which allows Congress to override administrative rulemaking.
If passed, the CDC would be required to make the regulations practical for sled dog racers, including mushers and race organizers.
According to a press release from Congressman Golden’s office, they are concerned that the new CDC rules jeopardize the internationally renowned Can-Am Crown International Sled Dog Races in Fort Kent.
