Dozens of dogs were uninjured Friday when the trailer they were in overturned in a crash on I-93 in Thornton.
Officials said the crash was reported about 8 a.m. Fire and police crews arrived to find the trailer on its roof, still attached by safety chains to the pickup truck that was towing it.
The uninjured driver and several bystanders were removing the dogs from their kennels when emergency crews arrived. There were 27 dogs in the trailer, and none of them were injured, officials said.
Two local sled dog trainers loaned their vehicles to get the dogs home, officials said.
One lane of I-93 was closed for about three hours while the vehicle was righted and removed, officials said. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
