Conditions:
Saturday: -29F to -23F & Sunny.
Sunday: -5F to +2F with flurries.
On a very cold Saturday, dogs in all manner of colored coats competed in the first heat of the Su Valley Championship. And in the 8 and 14 dog classes, times for the top positions were very close.
Sunday was far, far nicer. Kourosh Partow's 63 second lead proved unasailable in the 4 dog class, but Christian Taveau managed to usurp that position in 6 dog, and maintain his mastery in the 8 dog. But it was the 14 dog event where the action was, with Gail Hoekman's 5 second advantage being insufficient in preventing Eric Lanser from taking first, while Egil Ellis with a 10 dog team managed to supplant Mitchi Konno for third.
Final positions don't tell the whole story, so congratulation too, to Heather Hardy age 17 running for the first time at Montana Creek who left last on Sunday but managed a two position improvement (14 dog), and to John Stewart for his second place finish for the day, up from fourth (8 dog).
