57 Skijorers and over 100 dogs took to perfectly groomed trails at Highland Park 18 Hole Golf Course for the first-ever Winter Carnival Skijoring Race sponsored by Midwest Mountaineering and run by the Midwest Skijorers club.

The very wide trails afforded safe passing for novice teams as well as the opportunity to reverse seed the second heat of the advanced field.  This reverse seeding provided a handicap mechanism to the fastest teams and promised a more exciting finish for the roughly 250 spectators looking on.  This race attracted fist time racers, a small field of youth Skijorers as well as some of the fastest pro teams in the upper Midwest.
